First off, I wanted to share some exciting news. If you don't already know, the name Tunky Monkey came from our son, LJ, who had passed away 4yrs ago on the 9th of March. He spent his entire life (17 days) at the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughter. CHKD, will and forever always have a piece of our heart. (Will post our story of Tunky later down the line.)
Today, I received an email from Stephanie of Couture Parties, who founded The Confetti Foundation* that I was a "BIRTHDAY FAIRY!" I reached out to Stephanie and asked if I can be a part of her foundation, not only to help children and their families give them a happy and positive distraction away from transfusions, iv's, injections, xrays (I know and have gone through it all), but also do this for our Tunky and the staff of CHKD. The Cardiology Team, Life Services Team, Chaplain team and NICU team were all amazing to us while we were there and always felt like I needed to return the love that they gave towards LJ "Tunky" and our family. What better way than being the birthday fairy on behalf of the Confetti Foundation for CHKD.
Thank you Stephanie and team for creating such an amazing foundation! Thank you for allowing me to not only heal, but also allow me to give back to the hospital the best way that I can. I look forward to delivering our first set of boxes!
